Up coming movies in January and February

This is a list over new movies coming out in January and February that might be worth checking out. The expectation level is a rating from 0 to 10 on how much potential the movie has.

Youth In Revolt
January 8, 2010 (USA)

Expectation level: 8.6
Genre: Comedy | Drama | Romance
Cast:
Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday, Jean Smart, Zach Galifianakis, Steve Buscemi, Ray Liotta, Justin Long

Trailer 1 | Trailer 2

I am soooo looking forward to this movie. I'm a big fan of Michael Cera (Arrested Developments, Juno, Super Bad, Year One) who plays the main character Nick Twisp and his rebellious alter ego: Francois.

The quick storyline is that Nick Twisp – who is a 16 year old virgin, born into a white trailer trash family – falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful, free-spirited Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday). He gets his heart broken and in hope of winning her over, he creates an alter ego named Francois Dillinger.

The Nick Twisp character is like almost all of Michael Cera other characters and can best be descriped as akward - but he plays these akward types so brilliantly. But it is his alter ego Francois Dillinger that I most of all am looking forward to see.

Quote:
Francois says: "You're not gonna get this girl by sitting around listening to records. It is time to rebel Nick. It is time to be bad."

Crazy On the Outside
January 8, 2010 (USA)

Expectation level: 5.8
Genre: Comedy
Cast:
Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Ray Liotta, J.K. Simmons, Julie Bowen, Kelsey Grammer, Jeanne Tripplehorn

Trailer

Tommy (Tim Allen) is fresh out of 3 years in jail and moves in with his sister (Sigourney Weaver) and her cynical husband (J.K. Simmons). To cover for Tommys whereabouts the last 3 years, his sisters has told their grandma that Tommy has been in France.

Quote:
Ed (J.K. Simmons): Statistically speaking - people who go to France and then get out of France, usually end up back in France.

What to expect? I think it has potential to entertain and there is definitely a few good laughs in it. I don't think it is gonna be anything out of the ordinary, but are you in the mood for some easy going and light hearted humor - it might just do the trick.

Saint John of Las Vegas
January 29, 2010 (USA)

Expectation level: 8.2
Genre: Comedy | Drama
Cast: Steve Buscemi, Sarah Silverman, Romany Malco, Peter Dinklage, Emmanuelle Chirqui

Trailer

John (Steve Buscemi) is a compulsive gambler who, after a long string of bad luck, leaves Vegas and takes a job for an auto insurance company in Albuquerque. John sees an opportunity to get a promotion, when asked to go along with the companys top fraud debunker Virgil (Romany Malco) to investigate a dubious car accident near Vegas. But what will happend when John returns to Vegas.

This movie has so much potentials, and it is a must see for me. Steve Buscemi is always fantastic when he plays these kind of roles. And even the poster is cool!

Quotes:
"They say you make your own luck... My name is John... and I am NOT lucky!"
"When I lived in Las Vegas, I had plenty of luck... the problem was, most of it was bad"

From Paris with Love
February 05, 2010 (USA)

Expectation level: 7.2
Genre: Action | Crime | Thriller
Cast:
John Travolta, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Kasia Smutniak, Richard Durden

Trailer 1 | Trailer 2

Looks like an up-tempo action movie, spiced up with some (good/bad) one-liners and John Travolta as a bad ass US agent. And in my opinion... John is only good when he's bad.

It’s Complicated
January 21, 2010 (Denmark)

Expectation level: 6.3
Genre: Comedy
Cast:
Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin, John Krasinski, Lake Bell

Trailer 1 | Trailer 2

A mature comedy that actually looks promising. There is a lot of possibilities in the plot.

Extraordinary Measures
January 22, 2010 (USA)

Expectation level: 7.2
Genre: Drama
Cast:
Harrison Ford, Brendan Fraser, Keri Russell

Trailer

A drama centered on the efforts of John and Aileen Crowley to find a researcher who might have a cure for their two children's rare genetic disorder.

Has the potential to be a heavy drama with lots of emotions. The most interesting part for me, is to see if Brendan Fraser can pull of such a serious act (without me thinking of him in George of the Jungle).

To Save a Life
January 22, 2010 (USA)

Expectation level: 7.0
Genre: Drama
Cast:
Randy Wayne, Deja Kreutzberg, Joshua Weigel, Steven Crowder, D David Morin, Sean Michael, Bubba Lewis

Trailer

An all-star athlete and his girlfriend find their lives spinning out of control when Jake loses a childhood friend. Help comes when he reaches out to others who are hurting, and he realizes some people are just dying to be heard. How far would you go? How much would you risk? How hard would you fight…To Save A Life.

This could be a really good movie... or it could be too corny! But interesting plot.
